U.S. Department of Labor signs agreement with North Dakota to protect oil and gas industry employees
Why did they sign agreements? In 2017 North Dakota was rated the deadliest state to work in by the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organization, It’s the deadliest in the nation for laborers per capita, according to an annual report from the AFL-CIO a ranking that it’s maintained since 2012.
The two-year alliance will focus on alerts, effective training and education programs to recognize and prevent workplace hazards. In addition, the alliance’s members will develop training programs to promote understanding of employers’ and employees’ rights and responsibilities.
