Vietsovpetro starts oil field offshore Vietnam

JV Vietsovpetro reported the start of production from Ca Tam (Beluga) oil field offshore Vietnam with commissioning of the CTC-1 wellhead platform.

Initial flow from three wells was 11,900 b/d, according to the Russian-Vietnamese joint venture and state-owned Zarubezhneft of Moscow.

The CTC-1 wellhead platform connects with the RP-2 wellhead platform on Dragon field, the reconstruction of which Vietsovpetro completed in December.

The project is jointly developed by Vietsovpetro, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corp (PVEP) and Bitexco Group.

The fact that the schedule to put the CTC1-WHP platform into operation was well met represents significant efforts by Vietsovpetro, PVEP and Bitexco given the current unfavorable weather conditions and financial constraints. This also serves as an enabling factor for Vietsovpetro to secure steady production in 2019 and further promote its exploration activities in other blocks in the future.
